About Aahwaan e-Patrika

Aahwaan is the first published online complete Odia e-Magazine.

On 2nd February 2006, on the auspicious occassion of Saraswati Puja, "Aahwaan" took the shape of a 8 page tabloid and was published online for the first time in complete Odia fonts and was instantly circulated amongst thousands of Odia people scattered world wide. It was the first time that any magazine was published in complete Odia that people living in far away countries like USA, UK, Australia, UAE could read.

Dr Jyoti Prasad Pattnaik, mentor of this magazine started this with the hope of promoting the land and language of Odisha in every sphere of life of any ordinary Odia person. We were forgetting the language as we were becoming global and in such a scenario the need for a revolution to popularise Odia was a much needed demand which was successfully met with the publication of "Aahwaan".

Some people were so happy with this magazine, because they could read something in Odia. The goodwill messages from across the oceans made this e-Magazine a huge success story and then there was no looking back as the magazine went on ahead and got published every month.

Many people who associated with this venture not only enriched the content of the magazine but also boosted the feeling of Odia. Yet we are growing and we need your active participation in making our language known world wide.

Many people might not be aware of this fact that "Aahwaan" was not only the first Online Odia e-Magazine, but in stead it was the first e-Magazine to be published in any regional Indian languages. And that makes us, our land and language far far ahead of any other language.

How do I send Articles to Aahwaan ?

Many of you now might be willing to send your own articles for publication on Aahwaan, so here I summarise on how to do that.

1. Send us By POST : If you have writen an article on paper, make sure the article is clearly readable. Send it to our postal address as mentioned on our contact us page. Although slow, but then Postal delivery is the time tested method of sending mails.

2. Send us by e-Mail : You can otherwise do a scanning of your article and send the scanned materials in form of JPEG / PNG files to me by e-Mailing it to me at aahwaan@gmail.com

If you need assistance, you may give me a call at 98619 62160. If you are calling from anywhere in Odisha. If you are calling from outside Odisha add an extra 0 before the number. And if you are calling from outside India, use the country code of India (+91) before my number.

How do I get a Printed Copy of Aahwaan ?

Hmm, that is what many people would want. Because still there are people who are ignorant about the use of Computers. But making a printed magazine in odia is a really tough job. And there are not many people who will be willing to pay a fee to read a magazine at all. That is why I personally advise you to please download the magazine and get it printed at the nearest printer shop.

Although that is a bit troublesome, but then that is the cheapest way of getting a printed copy of Aahwaan. You can however ask me to send a printed copy but then that would mean a whole lot of cost on printing and mailing.
